Letter to Virginia Delegate Barbara Comstock Regarding the Cancer-Causing Dangers of the Birth Control Pill
Dear Friend:
Virginia Delegate Barbara Comstock states on her website that she led a delegation of 13 women from Virginia's House of Delegates in supporting an effort to encourage U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius to make birth control pills available to women over the counter to women ages 18 and older.
As our readers know, the World Health Organization lists the birth control pill with estrogen and progestin in it as a Group 1 cancer-causing substance. It's on the same page as tobacco, mustard gas, and asbestos. Although the WHO says it raises risk for cancers of the breast, liver and cervix, it also states it reduces the risk for far less common cancers of the cervix and endometrium. However, there are four times as many cases of invasive and in situ breast cancer annually in the U.S. than there are cases of cervical and endometrial cancers combined. As we have said many times in the past, it is wrong-headed to give women a carcinogen (the pill) to prevent cancer.
Please educate Delegate Comstock on the risks of using the Pill and other hormonal contraceptive steroids. You will find our letter to her below. Be sure to include the additional facts shown above that will inform her about the number of breast cancer cases annually vs. the number of cancers the pill may prevent (endometrial and cervical cancers).

Dear Delegate Comstock:
You should be aware that the World Health Organization listed the birth control pill containing estrogen + progestin as a Group 1 carcinogen - the highest level of carcinogenicity. The WHO's scientists said it causes cancers of the breast, liver, and cervix.
Use of the pill is also known by health professionals to be associated with heart attacks, strokes and blood clots. We suggest you do a search on Bayer's birth control pill, Yaz. You'll find class action lawsuits for pulmonary embolism, deep vein thrombosis, and blood clots.
Our organization is one of several health organizations that have filed an amicus brief with the U.S. Supreme Court in lawsuits against the new health care law's contraceptive mandate. Our purpose is to advise the court of the grave risks associated with the use of hormonal contraceptive steroids, i.e. the birth control pill; Depo Provera (black box warning for bone mineral density loss, more than 2-fold increased breast cancer risk, 2-fold increased risk in acquiring and transmitting HIV); Mirena (uterine perforation, pelvic inflammatory disease, ovarian cysts, and possible permanent loss of fertility); ParaGard (uterine perforation, increased bleeding or pain, damage to surrounding organs); Implanon (ectopic pregnancy, pulmonary embolism and strokes).
Contrary to the government's assertions, use of hormonal contraceptive steroids are NOT beneficial to women's health.
